Dear Photograph│Tumblr phenomenon

Dear Photograph, I miss that playground │ fan submission

I recently learned about the Tumblr photo phenomenon, Dear Photograph. The instructions are to "take a picture of a picture from the past in the present". Confused? You shouldn't be, just observe the picture above. Fascinated, yes I understand. The best thing about this new Tumblr project is the photographer doesn't need a fancy SLR camera. Just an old photo and the location the previous photo was taken. Each photo is captioned with a message beginning with Dear Photograph. The concept is pretty simple and it makes it much easier if you still live in the same area.

This is definitely something I want to try. I've already started rummaging through my album filled with an enormous amount of childhood photos. My biggest issue will probably be choosing the photo(s) I want to use. I'll dub this my summer project.

The idea of it is charming and it's a great way to reminisce on the good ol days. Since graduating from high school a month ago, I've been feeling sentimental about my childhood memories and seeing my younger siblings living their childhoods. This will be an awesome way for me to relive them for just a moment.  When I get done I will certainly have to frame these in my dorm room.

The lovely and stylish Miss Emma Watson is featured in the upcoming July issue of Vogue. She speaks about life after Harry Potter and her ambitions for the next coming years. The Harry Potter franchise has consumed her life for the last 10 years but despite the commitment she has been able to accomplish so much in fashion, education and her own personal life. Being confined to the life of Hermione has lead her to question who she really is as an artist and person.

I want everyone to go out and buy the July issue, as will I. Although I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I am a fan of Emma Watson and I really can't wait to see what path she will take after the departure of the Harry Potter clan. She is bigger than the Potter franchise and is capable of utter brilliance. So, I will  be keeping my eye out.

Alzhemier's being forgotten

While surfing the net I came across Tom Hussey's Novartis "Reflection" Campaign. The photographs portray an elderly person looking in the mirror at the reflection of their younger self. The talented photographer shot this campaign for the Exelon Patch, which is used to treat mild to moderate Alzeheimer's dementia. The poignant photographs draws an intense anguish for the lives of the elderly battling and affected by Alzheimer's. With cancer growing rapid in the U.S, the adversity of Alzheimer's is sometimes left in the dark.

According to the Alzeheimer's Asscociation website, Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.

The risk and long-term affects of Alzheimer's not only affects the person with the disease but also family and friends. As seen in this fictional film, My Name is Lisa, about a 13 year old girl coping with her mother's battle with the disease. It's produced by Sheltonfilms and directed by Ben Shelton.

Alzheimer's should not be forgotten and if you would like to learn more about the disease and ways to spread awareness visit Alzheimer's Association
