Michael Jackson Dedication

As you all may know today marks the two year death of the King of Pop. Everyone knows the mark Michael Jackson has made on the world and the music industry. He's influenced many artists and people today. So I want to post my three favorite MJ videos. Enjoy!

Remember the Time (1992)
I love this song because of all the famous faces: former L.A. Laker/business man Magic Johnson, actor Eddie Murphy and fashion model Iman.

Bad (1987)
Many people till this day dislike MJ's Bad album but I beg to differ. I love the choreography in this video and the song makes being bad look cool. I already want to rock a leather studded jacket.

Man In the Mirror (1987)
Man in the Mirror has a powerful message and I believe everyone should look deep within themselves. There are plenty of people with the desire to make an impact in the world but like Michael sings you have to look that man (or woman) in the mirror first and make a CHANGE

Billie Jean (1982)
Billie Jean was the first Michael Jackson song I've ever heard. This song came out way before I was born, my mother was only seven years old. I believe this is everyone's favorite MJ song.

RIP Michael Jackson

Motorbikes in a ballet routine

As seen on Motorstv

Who knew motorbikes could dance so gracefully.

This past weekend in the fourth round of the 2011 Promosport Championship at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in central France two bikes crashed. As the riders attempted to reclaim their bikes and continue the race, the bikes were entangled by the handles and proceeded to pirouette.

Hilarious, right, well the drivers thought otherwise. The bikes continued to perform for roughly 45 seconds while the drivers frantically circled and tried to interlace them until they disentangled on their own. From then on there was no hope of finishing the race. One of the disappointed drivers decided to leave the track and cool off. Poor guys maybe next time.

The Skanks in Walmart│New Orleans Bounce

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL, is all I can say after what I've just seen. So, I know I'm a little late but I just had to post about this one for all those who haven't seen this video yet. A few days ago a friend of mine told me about a video of these women walking in Wallie-World shaking their behinds, but I didn't care enough to actually search for the video. Until today, well not exactly.

Long story short, I'm a huge Kingsley fan, more like fanatic. Anyway, I haven't been up-to-date on his Overexposed vlogs and tonight, yes at 1:30 in the morning, I decided to catch up. That's when I learned of Mr.Ghettos music video Walmart. Oh lawd have mercy, Jesus help this poor ignorant man's soul and these foolish girls. Mr. Ghetto, the name suits him perfectly on account of this video, created a music video inside a WALMART superstore with two video girls shaking their vagina and derrières in the store while riding shopping carts.

I know it sounds too ridiculous to even be true but watch the video for yourself. I couldn't even watch the whole four minutes of the video because majority of the screen was shots of their rear end. The dance is called the New Orleans Bounce.

Really people, quoting Kingsley, "I'm embarrassed for them...Who thought this was sexy..There's nothing sexy about dancing like a prostitute [insert other choice words] in Walmart, are you kidding me".

They're also selling an hour long DVD version for $3.99, "1 hour full of body action, to hot for Youtube".Where was security when they were filming. It's ridiculous and embarassing. I'm ashamed.

Well if you want some good laughs out of this watch Kingsley's video The Skanks in Walmart. It's hilarious and he also has a link to the Walmart video as well. Kingsley always tells it like it is and he definitely hit the nail on the head with this video.

Dear Photograph│Tumblr phenomenon

Dear Photograph, I miss that playground │ fan submission

I recently learned about the Tumblr photo phenomenon, Dear Photograph. The instructions are to "take a picture of a picture from the past in the present". Confused? You shouldn't be, just observe the picture above. Fascinated, yes I understand. The best thing about this new Tumblr project is the photographer doesn't need a fancy SLR camera. Just an old photo and the location the previous photo was taken. Each photo is captioned with a message beginning with Dear Photograph. The concept is pretty simple and it makes it much easier if you still live in the same area.

Dear Photograph, that's love │ fan submission

This is definitely something I want to try. I've already started rummaging through my album filled with an enormous amount of childhood photos. My biggest issue will probably be choosing the photo(s) I want to use. I'll dub this my summer project.

The idea of it is charming and it's a great way to reminisce on the good ol days. Since graduating from high school a month ago, I've been feeling sentimental about my childhood memories and seeing my younger siblings living their childhoods. This will be an awesome way for me to relive them for just a moment.  When I get done I will certainly have to frame these in my dorm room.

Emma Watson in July issue of Vogue

Calvin Klein Collection metallic shift, Lynn Ban bracelets, and miu Miu heels│Photographed by Mario Testino │

The lovely and stylish Miss Emma Watson is featured in the upcoming July issue of Vogue. She speaks about life after Harry Potter and her ambitions for the next coming years. The Harry Potter franchise has consumed her life for the last 10 years but despite the commitment she has been able to accomplish so much in fashion, education and her own personal life. Being confined to the life of Hermione has lead her to question who she really is as an artist and person.

I want everyone to go out and buy the July issue, as will I. Although I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I am a fan of Emma Watson and I really can't wait to see what path she will take after the departure of the Harry Potter clan. She is bigger than the Potter franchise and is capable of utter brilliance. So, I will  be keeping my eye out.

Chris Brown lashes out gay slur and apologizes

As seen on TMZ

Oh Chris, there's never a moment when you're out of the negative side of the spot light. The best thing to do was to apologize or the LGBT community would have been on your tail like white on rice.

The incident initially occurred yesterday afternoon in L.A. An officer was attempting to give Chris a ticket because he was parked on the side of the street. In responds to the officer and the camera filming he told the officer, "yall niggas is weak", "you call them to try and film me","yall niggas is gay".

Sidenote: Chris did not receive the ticket.

A rep from the Human Rights Campaign told TMZ, "Brown, who didn't receive a parking ticket, used "words meant to demean gay Americans," which is "just plain unacceptable. He irresponsibly neglected to recognize the impact of his words and the unacceptable message that it sends to couple the word gay with negative actions."

Yesterday after the incident became viral, Chris of course apologized on his Twitter account stating, "I have total respect for the Gay community and my intention was not to insult anyone in it."

Chris, I am a fan but it bothers me to constantly see you on the news for your outlandish behavior. We're all rooting for you but it's hard to do that when there's so many negative things contradicting our belief of your musical superiority in the industry

For the past couple of hours, Chris has been a trending topic on Twitter, #chrisbrownneedsto...

Fans and haters are tweeting what they believe he needs to do at this point. Supposedly the TT was created by @biggtiggershow

Now @biggtiggershow was this TT intended to be a negative response towards C.B.'s actions?

Teyana Taylor │Her Room video coming soon

I recently posted about the latest remakes of Drake's newest single Marvin's Room. After the Twitter buzz of Teyana Taylor's Her Room she decided to create a video for her response to Drake's single. Her remorseful tune has become an anthem for ladies and we're all longing for a visual . With Omarion as the lead man the video should be hot and steamy. We can't wait to see how everything unfolds. Don't keep us waiting too long Teyana.

World's oldest woman dies

Ana Carolina Fernandes │Reuters

Maria Gomes Valentim died Tuesday morning in the southeastern city of Carangola, Brazil at 114 years, just a couple weeks away from her 115th birthday. The Guinness World Records listed Valentim as the oldest living  human on May 18th of this year. She was born during the reign of Queen Victoria on July 9, 1896 and has lived in her small town of Carangola her whole life. She gained her longevity by eating a daily roll of bread and fruit for breakfast, and an occasional nip of wine.

She was windowed in 1946 after a 33 year marriage and they had one son; he died at age 75. She left behind  four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

"A secret to a long life is a healthy diet and a happy life," quoted by Valentim's great-granddaughter.

Sidenote: That's amazing don't we all wish we could live to see a whole century. She has witnessed the world change drastically. From the Spanish-American War to the rapid growth of technology, quite lovely.

Each remake captures the message everyone would like to give to their ex-lover after a nasty breakup. Each has a different style and sound giving it a uniqueness. Download them all.

"Slut Walk" in Seattle

As seen on Fox News

The "Slut Walk" began in Toronto as Slut Walk Toronto earlier this year and the movement has since then evolved across the world. The movement began when a Toronto cop suggested women not dress like sluts to avoid being a victim of sexual assault. Co-founders Sonya JF Barnett and Heather Jarvis were not pleased with the statement and decided to do something about it, "Slut Walk".

Sidenote: No one should be sexually assaulted whether they're dressed like a slut or not. Nonetheless, the way a women dress makes a certain impression on men and can attract people you wouldn't want to associate with. A slut is associated with a prostitute and if a women choices to dress like that, then that's the impression they will give off.

Gorilla puts break dancers to shame

Zola is a nine year old male gorilla at the Calgary Zoo in Canada. He is one of the eight Western Lowland gorillas under the care of the Species Survival Program, which maintain captive species populations that can one day be introduced back into the wild. Western Lowland gorillas are listed as endangered species and are losing their habitats due to developments. Calgary Zoo is the second largest zoo in Canada.

Happy Father's Day

I want to dedicate this to post to all the wonderful fathers out there, especially mines. Fathers play an important role in their child's life and whether they know it or not without them things just wouldn't be the same. I have friends that don't have relationships with their own fathers and I see the differences in their lives and mine.

Without my father I don't think I would be as headstrong and self-motivated. One thing I've inherited from my father, besides his feet (yes I know I need pedicures periodically lol) and his forehead, is his work ethic. Like my father before I take a new path I do plenty of research and think the situation through long-term.

I appreciate all that my father has sacrificed and done for me and my family. For always being there and supporting us when we really needed him. Thanks Daddy, I love you. ♥ =)

I hope all of you celebrated your amazing dads and gave them the appreciation they deserve. For those of you who don't have a tight-nit relationship with your father, I hope that you've used today to make amends.

Once again, Happy Father's Day!

Tyrese Gibson's Father's Day Poem

I am more than just a man.. I am a father.

Actor Tyrese Gibson is known for his roles as the "baby daddy" in Baby Boy and Waist Deep but to celebrate the joyous occasion we dub Father's Day he expresses his feelings on the responsibility of being a father. With the experience he has gained raising his 3 year old daughter, Shayla, in his poem he gives his advice to all the 'real fathers around the world':

On this day, we as fathers are celebrated around the world...

I am more than just a man.. I am a father.
A boy is excited about the opportunity to be a dad.
A father is more focused on the "Responsibility" of being a father.

As a father it is a responsibility to create the standards in our kids' lives,  I am not just semen. I love you, and you love me and in our family we created "we" in our children...

I am power, I am intelligence, I am education, I am integrity, I am God fearing spirituality,  I am consistent...
As a father, sometimes I have to be away. I am constantly in the field hunting for my family's survival.
I am king therefore you are my queen. President Obama has created a new standard and removed every excuse a black man could ever have of NOT being a father...
I am more than I appear to be, I am more than just a man.
I....AM....FATHER!!

Fathers... Even though it seems like your effort is sometimes overlooked, God is watching and he knows your heart.

To all of the REAL FATHERS around the world..
Through good, bad or ugly relationships with the mother...
If you are NOT there for your kids, it is ONLY the kids that suffer in the end.
Take a stand and do any means necessary to be a part of your kids lives.

God knows your heart... God bless all FATHERS around the WORLD for Father's Day!

Salute!!

Alzhemier's being forgotten

While surfing the net I came across Tom Hussey's Novartis "Reflection" Campaign. The photographs portray an elderly person looking in the mirror at the reflection of their younger self. The talented photographer shot this campaign for the Exelon Patch, which is used to treat mild to moderate Alzeheimer's dementia. The poignant photographs draws an intense anguish for the lives of the elderly battling and affected by Alzheimer's. With cancer growing rapid in the U.S, the adversity of Alzheimer's is sometimes left in the dark.

According to the Alzeheimer's Asscociation website, Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.

The risk and long-term affects of Alzheimer's not only affects the person with the disease but also family and friends. As seen in this fictional film, My Name is Lisa, about a 13 year old girl coping with her mother's battle with the disease. It's produced by Sheltonfilms and directed by Ben Shelton.

Alzheimer's should not be forgotten and if you would like to learn more about the disease and ways to spread awareness visit Alzheimer's Association

Video Premiere│Chris Brown ft Justin Bieber ▬ Next to You

Since the release of Chris Brown's album F.A.M.E. every fan induced by BieberFever and TeamBreezy hashtags were definitely anticipating this video premiere. To be honest this is one of my favorite collabs off the album. It's something about the intertwining of disasters and love that warms the heart of a single female.

The mini movie is roughly six minutes long and takes place during an Apocalypse. Despite the chaos occurring in the video Chris isn't afraid to express his admiration for his lover through a dance number surrounded my burning vehicles and the Earth's crust cracked in two. What a brave soul. Thanks to Colin Tiley, who has also filmed previous videos for C.Breezy, it's crafty and well directed.

I don't want to give to much away so that you'll see for yourself how amazing the video really is; but on a sidenote: For all the die hard Bieb lovers the ending might just rip your heart out. Sorry =(

Merely the Beginning

Okay, so I had some interesting topics to post about to jumpoff the commencement of BYDculture. On the other hand, I thought it was more appropriate for my first post to explain what BYDculture really is, who I am and why I'm so passionate about making this blog public. =)

Well first off... I'm a journalism major at the University of Florida. GO GATORSSS! I would love to write for the New York Times, Vogue or Vanity Fair. It doesn't matter what the topic is I'll write about. I'm not picky; whether it be music, news, politics, celebrities, art or just life issues.

That's exactly what I'm going to do with this blog. My post will vary and definitely keep my readers interested and informed.

The name BYDculture originated from my interest in world culture, byd means world in Welsh hence the name BYDculture. I genuinely want to open the minds of my readers. With that being said I hope that you enjoy BYDculture and subscribe.
